The first trailer for the Sonic 2 movie came out this week. In it, we see Jim Carrey’s Robotnik returning to Earth after his dimensional exile, along with Idris Elba’s Knuckles. The two are forced to team up to stop Sonic, after they both suspect that Sonic has knowledge of the Master Emerald, which Robotnik wishes to obtain.
Idris Elba as Knuckles
Idris Elba has nabbed the role of Knuckles in the sequel to “123 Movies Sonic 2“. He previously played the character in the original, but is now making a return to the role. The new film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 8th. It features an aforementioned villain, Dr. Robotnik, who wants to use the green emerald to power himself. While we don’t know what to expect in the sequel, Idris Elba’s character, Knuckles, may have his own movie based on the character.
Idris Elba has confirmed his role as Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Elba was reportedly worried about finding the right voice for the character. However, he managed to pull off the role very well. In a new featurette, he reveals his character’s personality and character.
Despite the fact that the character is meant to be a villain, Knuckles is really a misguided good guy. Elba wanted to portray a more amiable side of Knuckles, and he was able to do that.
Despite Elba’s new character, the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is mostly familiar. Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey return as the original game’s voice actors. Colleen O’Shaughnesse, who has been a part of the Sonic series for years, also voices the character as Tails.
Tika Sumpter as Maddie
Tika Sumpter is reuniting with the Sonic franchise in the sequel to the popular video game series. According to the actress, she had requested an action role in the sequel. Though she had initially assumed she would be sidelined, Tika got her wish. In the sequel, she’ll reprise her role as Maddie Wachowski and team up with James Marsden, Jim Carrey, and the original voice actress of the character, Colleen O’Shaughnessy.

The screenwriters, led by franchise newcomer John Whittington, use a bigger budget to explore a variety of fun ideas, but ultimately, the film is too long to hit its stride.
